Civica Inc. (Civica, Civica Rx) was invited to provide insights on drug shortages during a Congressional hearing earlier today.
“Make no mistake: drug shortages are not a passing storm that will soon blow over,” said Allan Coukell, Civica’s Sr. Vice President of Public Policy, in testimony before the United States Senate Committee on Finance. “After a dozen years, shortages must now be understood as a built-in and permanent outcome of our current system.”
Allan joined three other witnesses for discussion on the causes of drug shortages and potential solutions for mitigating them:
- Inmaculada (Inma) Hernandez, PharmD., Ph.D., Professor, Division of Clinical Pharmacy, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of California, San Diego
- Marta E. Wosinska, Ph.D., Senior Fellow, Schaeffer Initiative on Health Policy, The Brookings Institution
- Jason WesTn, MD, MS, FACP, Director, Lymphoma Clinical Research Program, Section Chief, Aggressive Lymphoma, Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma, M.D.
